The Baby Makers

It's 1971, and Danny Martin is about to turn thirteen and become the man of the house. His mother, Ginnie, is a promiscuous barmaid who brings strange men home and puts him and his nine-year-old sister at risk. After his sister, Callie, ends up in Child Protection while he’s on a camping trip, Danny has had enough. Things have got to change and he’s going to need help. He’s too young to be a man but too old to be ignored.

After Ginnie goes to church under duress she is unexpectedly converted and is radically saved. Danny has mixed feelings about this because it's the 1970s, and he wants to be a full participant in the sexual revolution. He's looking forward to working his way through the population of nubile girls in his class, but the one he has no chance with is Audrey Simmons, the smartest girl in school, who is on a mission to find a man who is not Danny Martin. She just got her period, and she believes this is God's blood covenant with her that she is to become a mother.

While the rest of the world is concerned about overpopulation, birth control, and putting careers ahead of children, there is a new generation rising that wants to go forth and multiply. And it will be hard to do during a new social order that is consumed with fear of the future.
